Four port high speed unit (HSU) for 64Kbps data applications with IEEE C37.94 optical interface. Uses fiber optic connectors (BFOC/2.5) and can operate at a distance of up to 2 km (1.24 miles). The data rate on the optical media is 2.048MHz, and framed as an E1 without signaling. Due to the data structure defined by PC37.94, each port contains a maximum of 12 time slots of data. Requires Host Code 7.2.0 or higher. Operates per C.37.94 spec at 830nm on multi-mode fiber.

Each port may by connected to a DSU/CSU operating at 64, 56, Switched 56, 19.2, 9.6, 4.8 or 2.4Kbps DSUs can be local to several thousand feet distant to IMACS based on speed and wire gauge. Built to GR-1089 specification. Requires -48VDC.

Can also support RS232 data at 56Kbps through the use of the 1253 personality module. Has four DB26F connectors. Has improved clock jitter performance over the 821560. Firmware is flash based. Based on 821570, blue book standard.

Special ten port low delay sub rate unit (LD-SRU) with RJ-48 modular connectors. Connects to the A, B, C and D buses. Supports synchronous and/or asynchronous data ports from 300 bps to 38.4Kbs. Supports DS0-A, DS0-B and V.14 division 32 subrate multiplexing formats by hardware instead software as in the 822060 SRU. The SRU offers lower delay, increasing throughput: Maximum of 6 ms +/- 10% end to end of rates 9.6 kbps or higher for sync. SRU card ports can also be multiplexed with voice traffic on an 8000-ADPCM card (up to 19.2 Kbps data circuit in 24 Kbps data circuit in 24 Kbps ADPCM channel).
